January 29, 2025
This exhibition runs from Jan. 29 through Feb. 20.

Courtesy of the artist: Jon Weary, Single Bushel (1/2 scale), Walnut ink on paper, 22" x 30", 2023.
Through various techniques, Weary's paintings infuse metaphor and meaning into subjects drawn from his memories of being raised in Pennsylvania. His representational images of orchards from Adams County, bushels of fruit, furniture his father built while living on South Mountain in Cumberland County and various tools are imbued with conceptual gestures that playfully invite viewers to explore what may lie beneath the surface of each subject.
Jon Weary (b. 1987, Carlisle, Pa.,) took part in the Temple Rome study-abroad program in 2009 and earned a BFA from the Tyler School of Art in 2011. His work has been exhibited recently at Fjord Space, Philadelphia (“As slow, as new, as single," March 2024), and at Ejecta Projects, Carlisle (“A Tune Subtle and Vast," February 2023). Group shows in Philadelphia include 2024's ”Price Lists and Placements” at Moore College of Art & Design, “Plantasia” at Commonweal Gallery, “Vox XIX” at Vox Populi and “I really like that!”, an exhibition of work from Dona Nelson’s personal art collection held at Tyler School of Art. Weary's works are in numerous prominent private collections throughout the Northeast and Middle Atlantic U.S.
This reception continues through Feb. 20. Gallery hours: Tuesday-Friday 3 - 5 p.m., Saturday 2-5 p.m.
