The city of Nagoya flourished during the reign of the samurai and soon developed into the bustling commercial center it is today. This course will take advantage of its Nagoya setting to explore Japanese culture during the era of the samurai and geisha, the Tokugawa era. Students can expect to come away from this summer program with a deeper knowledge and appreciation for Japanese history and culture of the time. No knowledge of Japan or Japanese language required.
