Come unplug before finals at a backcountry cabin in Michaux State Forest!
The Dawson Cabin has a cozy living and dining area and loft with space for up to 10 guests. This is an off-grid cabin without electricity or running water. It does have a wood stove, so we will stay warm regardless of the weather. Participants will spend time cooking food, hiking nearby trails, relaxing in the sunshine, and learning backcountry living skills like fire building. This opportunity is open to any Dickinson student and will involve moderate physical activity. Food will be provided.
If you have any questions or concerns about your participation please email burnetc@dickinson.edu before registering.
We will be leaving from behind Allison Hall promptly at 4:00 PM on Friday afternoon and will be back sometime Sunday morning.
Note: We will meet before the trip to go over our gear and food plans. Make sure you're able to meet around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18th if you want to participate!
Please take a look at this backpacking checklist from REI and request any personal items you need from the Gearbox. A revised packing list will be sent out to registered participants before the trip:
