Legoland Performance

April 7, 2023

Hosted by The Mermaid Players and the Department of Theatre & Dance

The Mermaid Players, along with the Department of Theatre and Dance, are proud to bring back Lab Shows! Lab Shows give students the opportunity to produce a performance that they create. Scripted drama, one-person shows, devised work, movement pieces, or even musicals could be considered, with the entire project being student directed, designed, acted, and produced. This semester there will be two Lab Shows put on, one in February and one in April. Legoland, directed by junior Sky DiGregorio, is the second of these 2 shows.

Penny and Ezra Lamb give a presentation about their lives, and the dangers of crime. They start at a private Catholic boarding school in Canada. Both are outcasts at school. Penny is bullied, in part for her favorite boy band called Seven Up, and especially her love of lead singer Johnny Moon. Ezra is a shut-in, who takes delight in his toys and puppets. Seven Up breaks up, and a newer, edgier, Johnny hosts a meet and greet in Florida, 2500 miles away. The siblings travel to Florida while seeing snapshots of American culture along the way.
