The Transfeminist Manifesto Revisited: A Talk by Emi Koyama

March 30, 2023

Hosted by the Office of LGBTQ Services.

Twenty years after the publication of “The Transfeminist Manifesto,” the intersection of trans and feminist liberatory politics is fraught as ever, as attacks on women’s reproductive rights and trans people’s access to education and medical treatment accelerate. Emi Koyama reviews what has and has not changed since the publication of her foundational text and what new perspectives contemporary intersectional trans feminisms bring to the current moment in the ongoing culture wars.

Emi Koyama is a multi-issue social justice activist and writer synthesizing feminist, Asian, survivor, dyke, queer, sex worker, intersex, genderqueer, and crip politics, as these factors, while not a complete descriptor of who she is, all impacted her life.
