Dickinsonians at McKinsey: Consulting Careers, Entry Points & Leveraging Your Liberal Arts Education

During this virtual session the group will discuss:

• an overview of consulting at McKinsey and other firms,

• how to stand out to consulting firms by leveraging the best of our liberal arts education and

• various entry points to McKinsey and other firms, and why a non-business background can be a great fit for consulting.

Sean Denson ’12 is an IT sourcing lead in McKinsey & Company’s operations group, Optimize. Sean is responsible for the sourcing, negotiation and contracting of McKinsey’s Enterprise Software products. He works closely with McKinsey’s information technology group on the sourcing of products ranging from productivity and collaboration to cybersecurity software. Prior to McKinsey & Company, Sean worked in procurement at Lockheed Martin and Accenture.

Sean completed his B.A. in economics at Dickinson. He was also a member of the track and field team and Dickinson’s comedy troupe, Run With It!. Outside of work, Sean serves on the Board of Trustees for Frankford Friends School, a nonprofit Quaker elementary school based in Philadelphia.

Scott Morello ’06 is a solution leader in the people and organizational performance practice and manager of the organizational analytics team at McKinsey & Company. He develops, leads and delivers talent-related solutions to clients, with a focus on improving employee management, productivity and performance through expertise in workforce dynamics and analytics.

Scott holds a Ph.D. in quantitative ecology and marine biology from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.S. in environmental science from Dickinson. Prior work in academic research and environmental consulting specialized in collaborations using statistical models, machine learning and hypothesis-driven experiments to understand drivers of population and community change.

Bernadette McFadden Stout ’07 is a partner in McKinsey’s Washington, D.C., office, where she serves health-care and public-sector clients. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dickinson. She now serves as president of Dickinson’s Alumni Council and as an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees. Her husband, Alex, is also a member of the Dickinson’s class of 2007. They live in Arlington, Virginia, with their three children. Prior to joining McKinsey, Bernadette worked as an AmeriCorps member with Hands on Atlanta, as a health policy analyst with the Institute of Medicine (focused on improving healthcare quality and reducing disparities), and as a quality-improvement coordinator with a community hospital. In addition to her Dickinson degree, she holds an MBA from Duke University and an M.Sc. in social research from Trinity College Dublin.
