Multifaith Week: Decolonizing Interfaith: Interrogating the Roots of the Movement from a non-Western Lens

Dr. Sachi Edwards and Simran Kaur will be joining CSSJ Director Cody Nielsen for a panel discussion "Decolonizing Interfaith: Interrogating the Roots of the Movement from a non-Western Lens" on Monday, April 19 at 5 p.m.. 

Dr. Sachi Edwards is a faculty member in the Graduate School of International Peace Studies at Soka University in Tokyo, Japan. Her areas of research include interfaith dialogue, religious diversity in educational contexts, and the intersection of Westernization and Christian supremacy through the phenomenon of higher education internationalization.

Simran Kaur-Colbert (she/hers) is a PhD Candidate at Miami University in the Department of Educational Leadership. Her research aims to understand how existential worldview diversity infrastructure emerged in higher education. Simran is a Sikh-American woman of color, multilingual, and of South Asian heritage.  She has a master's degree in Diplomacy and International Commerce with experience in both the public, private, and non-profit sector. 

Multifaith Week is meant to celebrate the diversity of religious, secular, and spiritual beliefs on campus. This year's Multifaith Week takes place April 12-April 20 and coincides with Ramadan. Join the Center for Spirituality and Social Justice for this week long event that includes two discussions, a teaching shabbat service brought to you by the Asbell Center, a scavenger hunt with prizes, and a photo-collage opportunity. Make sure to pick up your scavenger hunt materials on April 13 and return them by April 20th to Landis House. Prizes will be distributed before the end of April.
