Dance Theater Group's Alumni Takeover: Tik Tok Takeover with Colleen Brandt

October 25, 2020

Explore how dances on Tik Tok reflect current societal feelings and conversations.

Colleen Brandt graduated from Dickinson College in 2017 with her bachelors in Sociology and Educational Studies. At Dickinson, she was secretary and president of DTG, volunteer coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sister, and tutor for middle school students. Previously, Colleen worked for the Pennsylvania College Advising Corp, assisting Philadelphia high school students in the college application process. Currently, she works in Boston for Bottom Line, a non-profit that supports first-generation and low income students in the college application process through to college graduation.

Tik Tok Takeover: In a time of extreme isolation, dance is being utilized as a form of expression, escape, and connection through popularized choreographed snippets on the app Tik Tok. After a good warm up, we will explore how dances on Tik Tok reflect current societal feelings and conversations. We will identify key choreographic elements and choose whether to accept or challenge them in our own Tik Tok dance creation. Join us to work out, wonder, and maybe even "woah".
