From Dickinson’s Vault: The College’s Founding and Early Years

September 8, 2020

During this presentation, College Archivist Jim Gerencser will select a few interesting items from the vault in order to share the stories that they tell about the institution’s early years.

Sponsored by the Old West Society The Dickinson College Archives is teeming with documents, artifacts and other materials that record the institution’s storied past. During this presentation, College Archivist Jim Gerencser will select a few interesting items from the vault in order to share the stories that they tell about the institution’s early years. How did Dickinson College get started? What was it like to be a student at that time? What kinds of challenges did the faculty and trustees face in keeping the fledging school in operation? Additional questions from the audience are encouraged, and digital copies of the selected items will be available for people to explore online. This webinar will lead up to our Charter Day celebration on Sept. 9, the 237th anniversary of the signing of Dickinson’s charter. Please register by Sunday, Sept. 6. The Zoom access link will be sent to registrants prior to the presentation.
