The Seniors of Old Bellaire - 63rd Annual Dinner

October 1, 2020

This dinner event is by invitation only.

The Seniors of Old Bellaire Recognition Dinner tradition began in 1957 as a program to honor those who had served the college for 25 years or more. The first dinner was on March 8, 1957 with 37 charter members. Over the past 63 years, the college has recognized 390 individuals.

The origin of the name, Seniors of Old Bellaire, remains a mystery with several possibilities. A connection has been suggested to the novel “In Old Bellaire” which was written by Mary Dillon. Mary Dillon was the daughter of Herman Merrills Johnson, a president of the college during the Civil War period. Other references to this name include an area of Carlisle that may have been known as Bellaire Park, or a path within the college grounds that may have been called Bellaire Path. We cannot confirm the origin of the name, but we can enjoy the celebration of our 25-year employees.
