Join us for a screening of The Dark Valley with Christian Quendler, an Austrian-American film scholar and professor at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

In 19th-century Austria, a solitary stranger (Sam Riley) appears in a mountain village high in the Alps, stirring unease among the locals. A war erupts between the traveler and a local family after one of their members dies under mysterious circumstances. The Dark Valley (Das Finstere Tal) was released in Germany in 2014. The film is directed by Andreas Prochaska. A reception will be held prior to the film. This event is sponsored by the Max Kade Institute of Cultural Studies and organized by the Department of German.
