Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 20, 2019

To mourn and honor the lives of individuals who might otherwise be forgotten.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. TDOR publicly mourns and honors the lives of individuals who might otherwise be forgotten. Join us as we read the names of individuals who lost their lives over the past year due to anti-transgender violence and hatred.

If you have a piece of poetry/art work you want to share on Transgender Day of Remembrance? Email If you are also interested in helping us read the names of folks who lost their lives in 2019, please email.
