Laura Suchoski, former ESPN and espnW social-media manager, will present a lecture, “Sports, Social Media & the Empowerment of Women,” at Dickinson on Monday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in the Stern Center Great Room, 208 West Louther Street. The event is free and open to the public.

Suchoski will explore social innovations within sports media and how businesses are using social media to engage a diverse audience, with a focus on women. She also will discuss the growing social-media landscape and how it is changing the way fans and athletes consume sports.

Suchoski is currently the social-media manager at McKinney, an advertising agency in North Carolina. She was Duke University’s first four-time field hockey All-American athlete, a two-time team captain, an all-academic honoree and the Duke University Field Hockey Athlete of the Decade. She also competed with the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team for seven consecutive years and traveled internationally representing the U.S. Suchoski graduated from Duke with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a certificate in journalism and media studies.
