NACUA's New Leader

Dana Scaduto, Dickinson's general counsel, has been elected president of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), which is considered the primary source of higher-education law programming and information for its members and the higher-education community. The association serves more than 750 public and private higher-education institutions and nearly 4,000 attorneys throughout the U.S. and in 11 countries.

Scaduto has been a NACUA member since 1995 and has presented at several NACUA conferences and virtual seminars. She has served previously on NACUA's board of directors, as well as on various association committees, including as chair of the membership and member-services committee. As NACUA's president, she will continue to serve on the board of directors and on each of the association's committees.

"It is an honor to serve as NACUA's president and chair of the board," says Scaduto. "Colleges and universities face a complex tangle of issues under federal and state laws. The attorneys serving higher education need the best resources possible to support their institutions in meeting these regulatory challenges."

Scaduto joined Dickinson in 2002. She counsels the Board of Trustees and advises the president and other senior staff regarding a wide range of legal issues, including board governance and higher-education law, student affairs, tenure and employment and regulatory compliance.

Scaduto is active in the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, where she currently serves on the legal services review panel. She also serves as a member of the legal advisory panel for United Educators and is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Cumberland County bar associations.
