Music at the Trellis
Julien Baker kicks off the Spring Concert Series on March 24, in the HUB Social Hall (instead of the trellis; blame the late-season snowfall).
A wave of bands and performers come to campus for the 2017 Spring Concert Series

Maybe you were at the Steve Aoki show in ATS back in December. It was a loud, sweaty affair, a manic explosion that no one who attended will soon forget. Aoki is one of the biggest DJs on the planet, and his show was one of the biggest Dickinson has hosted in a long time.
But if you’re looking for something a little different (OK, a lot different), keep an eye on the Quarry, because over the next month, a slew of bands and solo performers will be playing free outdoor shows at The Mermaid Society Trellis. And Dickinsonians can watch one of their own play as well, when Kerin Maguire '17 opens the April 21 show!
Here’s the lineup and a snip of a review or two, to whet your appetite:
March 24, 8 p.m. (to be held in the HUB Social Hall, not at the trellis): Julien Baker (“The moment you press play on the album these songs aren’t about her sorrows, they’re yours.” —Drowned in Sound)
March 31, 8 p.m.: Eskimeaux with Told Slant (On Eskimeaux: “You’re not listening to a studio recording, you’re locked in her bedroom, watching her pen the tracks.” —Pitchfork)
April 1, 8 p.m.: Waxahatchee & Kevin Morby with Mary Lattimore (“[Waxahatchee] makes us understand that we’re witnessing a person on a new wavelength—one at odds with what we’ve been told we should want for ourselves.” —Consequence of Sound)
April 7, 8 p.m. (Allison Hall, lower level community room, due to weather): Lady Lamb (“Her lyrical muscle lets Lady Lamb oscillate between the visceral and the mundane without so much as a knowing lilt in her voice.” —Pitchfork)
April 8, 7 p.m.: Will Pfrang (The 20-year-old folk rocker is so hot off the presses that reviewers haven’t had a chance to write about him yet!)
April 21, 8 p.m.: Forth Wanderers with Florist and Kerin Maguire ’17 (On Forth Wanderers: “The lo-fi, low-slung rock found on their four-song EP, 'Slop,' is confident and untainted, and Guterl’s mucky guitar tugs out Trilling’s coy confessions in all the right ways.” —The New Yorker)
April 28, 8 p.m.: Margaret Glaspy (“The title track to Emotions and Math is strutting yet off-kilter, neatly capturing its lyrical themes of wide-eyed longing." —Rolling Stone, which also named Glaspy one of its “10 Artists You Need to Know”)
In case you don't know, the Mermaid Society Trellis is between the Quarry and Althouse Hall, and it's a great spot to see a live band! The series was organized by MOB (with concert chairs Kerin Maguire '17 and Mikey Kmetz '19), co-sponsored by WDCV and funded by the Student Fee.
