WWII Veteran Tom Lacek '48 returns to Biddle Field for Homecoming & Family Weekend

Interrupted by WWII, Tom Lacek ’48’s Dickinson career resumed when he returned from an infantry tour of Europe, Purple Heart and Bronze Star in hand. Back on the gridiron for his junior and senior years, Lacek picked up the nickname “Two-Point Tom,” for his crucial role in a 2-0 victory over Lebanon Valley College.

Nearly seven decades later, Lacek visited campus over Homecoming & Family Weekend and performed the opening coin toss at the Red Devils game. Helping him complete his full-circle journey that day was his granddaughter, Ellen Aldin ’13.

“That was really special to me,” says Aldin. “Him coming back to his place, that’s kind of become my place as well.”
