Decision Dickinson Wrap-Up

International admitted students

Students from 32 countries were admitted to the class of 2018, and on April 16, seven of those countries were represented during the final Made-to-Order program. Students from China, Turkey, Vietnam, Japan, Nigeria, Botswana and Portugal happily connected with one another for lunch and were joined by current international students to discuss the Dickinson experience.

A successful series of programs welcomes admitted and enrolled students to the Dickinson community

As students from around the world were admitted to Dickinson’s class of 2018, invitations to events began filling their inboxes. Calls to come visit campus or meet members of the Dickinson community around the country were readily accepted, launching three months of excitement dubbed Decision Dickinson. From the President’s Day Preview on Feb. 17 and the Preview Day on Feb. 27 through the Made-to-Order programs on April 2, 9 and 16 and the Preview Day on April 12, the Dickinson campus welcomed 469 admitted students and their families.

They traveled from Alaska and Hawaii, Washington and Wisconsin and our own backyard. They represented Dickinson's global reach from Scotland to Rwanda and everywhere in between. They attended classes and information sessions. They posed questions to current students and toured the historic and innovative campus. They met the future classmates they had been chatting with on Facebook and posted pictures of their visit to Twitter and Instagram.

The Dickinson community also traveled to them. Off-campus receptions were hosted by alumni in 12 cities, which more than 170 admitted or enrolled students and their families attended, discovering all of the Dickinson connections in their regions.

While the official Decision Dickinson programming is now complete, the admissions team remains at the ready to welcome admitted students to campus (with hundreds of individual visits scheduled during the next few days). Admissions is also ready to respond to phone calls and e-mails with last-minute questions and to share the stories of this distinctive community that will help determine whether this is the right place to call home.
