• Dancing at Dickinson

  Instructor: Frank Hancock. Dance lessons begin on Tuesday, Feb. 28 and continue through Tuesday, April 3 in The Depot. This program offers beginning and intermediate level ballroom dancing lessons for a six-week session. The beginner lessons will be held from 6-7:15 p.m. and intermediate lessons will be held from 7:15-8:30 p.m. Instruction includes the foxtrot, tango, cha-cha and swing dancing. $30/person. • Power of One

  Presented by Annette Cremo of Performance Plus in a two-part workshop series on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. and Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Stern Center, room 102 from 1:30–3 p.m. Life’s success is 10 percent of what happens to us and 90 percent of how we respond to it, according to Charles Swindoll. Research proves that hardiness is the key to personal resiliency. Not only for surviving, but also thriving, under stress. Hardiness enhances performance, leadership, conduct, stamina, mood, both physical and mental health. Making the most of one’s life is what living is all about. This requires not only a positive attitude but also work – work at making decisions, taking risks, the challenges of empowerment and putting it all together in a manageable schedule. • Effective Tax Strategies

  Presented by MetLife on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Stern Center, room 102. This session is aimed at preparing individuals for their annual tax returns by helping them understand and identify common deductions. This includes information on different state and local taxes, tax rules for home sale, charitable contributions, child care tax credit and keeping accurate records. HHIP: Financial Wellness session. • French Summer Program Scholarship

  The Alliance Française de Philadelphie offers a summer program scholarship to a third or fourth year college student to attend an accredited summer program of French study to obtain a level of proficiency in the spoken language that is not attainable in normal classroom work. The scholarship consists of a monetary award of $2,500 paid to the institution offering the program. The application deadline is Feb. 15. • Nutrition Open Hours for Students

  If you have a few nutrition questions, but are not sure that you need a full nutrition session, come see the dietitian during Nutrition Open Hours. Students are seen by the dietitian for a brief individual visit, typically 15-20 minutes, on a first-come, first-served basis. Follow-up visits can be coordinated with the dietitian.

  The Central Scholarship Bureau offers scholarships and an interest-free loan program to students from Maryland.

• Student Employee/Supervisor of the Year Nominations Being Accepted

  In an effort to acknowledge the valuable contributions of our student workers and their supervisors, we are pleased to announce the 8th annual Dickinson College Student Employee of the Year award, and the 4th annual Dickinson College Supervisor of the Year award. If you are employed by an outstanding supervisor, or if you have an outstanding student employee, this is your chance to express your appreciation. All Dickinson College student employees are eligible to be nominated as the Student Employee of the Year; and professional staff level supervisors are eligible to be nominated as the Supervisor of the Year.
  
  Nomination materials are available to download from the student employment Web site. All nominees and award recipients will be celebrated in a joint Student Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the Year Celebration ceremony which will take place on Tuesday, April 10 at noon on Britton Plaza. The nomination materials must be submitted electronically. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 17. • R.A. Selection Process Underway

  Anyone interested in applying for the RA position during the 2012-2013 academic year must complete an application by no later than Monday, March 12, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. Students will receive an application link after attending an information session, meeting with an RCD, CA or RA, or meeting with Elizabeth Farner in the Office of Campus Life.
  
  Students studying aboard are eligible and encouraged to apply. Any students abroad who are interested should be in touch with Pavan Purswani directly to receive information about their specific process for their candidacy. In the past, we’ve utilized phone calls or Skype for these interviews.
