This practical session is designed to help you navigate Dickinson’s academic misconduct process with clarity and increased confidence.
Maintaining academic integrity in our classrooms feels more complex than it’s ever been. How can faculty identify cheating, plagiarism, of the misuse of Generative AI among our students in a way that preserves the rigor and high standards of our classrooms, while engaging and supporting students whose actions violate course expectations? We will explore best practices for approaching students when you suspect academic misconduct has taken place, how to handle Generative AI misuse without unreliable AI checkers, and be reflexive about how implicit bias can shape perceptions of student work. The goal of this session is to give you confidence in handling delicate situations thoughtfully and to help you maintain a culture of trust and fairness in your classroom.
