Dickinson has appointed seasoned financial manager and higher-education administrator Brontè D. Jones, currently treasurer of St. John's College in Annapolis, Md., as vice president for finance and administration. She will begin on Sept. 16.

As a member of Dickinson's senior leadership team, Jones will be responsible for the financial affairs of the college and deploying its resources with integrity and in alignment with the college's goals. She also will lead all phases of financial and capital planning and budgeting, ensuring that environmental sustainability is a key priority in college operations and capital decision-making.

"Brontè brings to Dickinson accomplishments in both finance and operations and she embraces an environment of collaboration, transparency and effective communication," said Dickinson President Nancy A. Roseman. "Her team-building and interpersonal skills, coupled with a palpable energy and enthusiasm for her role, make her the ideal person to promote the financial vitality of the college."

Jones has more than 20 years of experience in financial and facilities management in higher education in addition to project management and auditing experience in state government and nonprofit sectors. At St. John's College, she led the business office, the buildings and grounds, facilities, food service, information technology and personnel departments and the print shop. Previous leadership positions include vice president for administration and finance at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, as well as roles there as dean of enrollment management and assistant dean of financial services. In addition, she served as senior project manager at the Texas State Auditor's Office and has held several positions elsewhere in the accounting field.

Jones is involved in a variety of professional and civic organizations, including serving as a member of, and accreditation evaluator for, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and as a member of the Tuition Discounting Study Advisory Board for the National Association of College and University Business Officers. She also has worked with several community organizations in the Annapolis area.

Jones holds a bachelor's degree in finance and an MBA from American University and a doctorate in higher-education administration from the University of Texas, Austin. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Harvard Institute for Higher Education and the Higher Education Resource Services Institute for Women in Higher Education at Wellesley College.
