How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

It has given me confidence in my ability to perform in an academic setting. I had never thought I would attend college because I had thought I wasn't smart enough. After attending and performing well, I am confident and excited to pursue the challenges ahead of me as I make my way in the world.

What are you most anticipating about your career or post-graduate pursuits?

After the summer, my girlfriend and I are moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Once there, we plan to buy a fixer-upper with my VA home loan and turn it into a rental property after a year of living in it and completing various projects to make it more desirable. After that, we want to buy a house with a little bit of land and I want to build either small dwellings or camping/glamping sites to Airbnb. So I'm excited to pursue this dream of mine.

What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

All the self-growth that has occurred since my freshmen year. I was unconfident in my abilities as a student and that gave me a lot of anxiety. As time went on and I completed more semesters, I adapted to college work stressors and was successful. Also, my girlfriend and I further developed our love for hiking, tried different eating styles (vegan, keto), developed our bodies through exercise, and overall we became healthier individuals.

Being a student-athlete I have had several defining moments that I have learned a lot about myself through successes and challenges. Furthermore, my freshmen year I was unsure about how I was fitting in with the Dickinson community, socially and academically. However, the second semester I found a great group of friends and had amazing professors who were so clearly there to support me in my life in and outside of academics. This was the reassurance I needed to know that I could make it here and fully embrace all Dickinson has to offer.
