Since 1996, the
Murasaki Duo has performed classic and new cello and piano literature as chamber music, earning recognition as one of the leading ensembles of the genre. It serves as ensemble-in-residence at
Luther College (Iowa) and has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Scandinavia to rave reviews.
The duo's young members, Eric Kutz (cello) and Miko Kominami (piano), are passionate advocates of new music and regularly commission contemporary works. At Dickinson, they will perform commissions from the past five years by composers Jocelyn Hagen, Brook Joyce, Maria Newman, Jerry Owen and Associate Professor of Music
Robert Pound.
