Project Director Practices Sound Science
From the U.S. Army to environmental organization LandScope America, Christine Reuss Wisnewski '91 helps her clients stay sustainable.

“My entire career has been at the intersection between science and management,” says Christine Reuss Wisnewski ’91, director of projects for Sound Science LLC.
Founded by two of her former colleagues at The Nature Conservancy, where she managed research and grant programs from 1994 to 2000, Sound Science is a consulting firm that provides environmental technical expertise and training to nonprofit organizations and federal agencies.
Wisnewski, who joined the company in 2006, leads strategic-planning projects for a variety of clients—from lending land-management know-how to the U.S. Army to collaborating on Web publications with the environmental organization LandScope America.
The former East Asian-studies and international-studies double major developed her passion for science and the environment as a research assistant and program coordinator for Dickinson’s Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM). Wisnewski also earned a certificate in environ-mental studies while at Dickinson; she went on to acquire an M.S. in environmental science and policy at Johns Hopkins University.
“I’m not a research scientist, but I’ve found myself in this place where I take information, analyze the data and translate it or put it out there for all different kinds of audiences,” she says. “I’ve spent a lot of time helping organizations make sure they get the most value possible out of the resources they have.”
