The Overseas Assistant and Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant programs bring students from around the world into Dickinson classrooms for a year, where they immerse students in foreign language and culture.
“Dickinson is super-multicultural—everybody is so interested in languages and cultures here,” says Amanda Francatto, a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) who came to Dickinson from Brazil. “I try to help the students to acquire the language in a more real environment.”
And the experience is meaningful on both sides of the teacher-student relationship.
“Dickinson actually changed my life, in a very positive way,” says Riccardo Dragani, an Overseas Teaching Assistant from Italy. “I didn’t expect that to happen, but it did. … And I’m really, really thankful for this experience.”
