Dialogues Across Differences

Student Dialogue Coordinators

Meet our Student Dialogue Coordinators!

This group of students are alumni of the Speaking & Writing Across Difference class and are passionate about making Dickinson, Carlisle, and beyond a more dialogic and de-polarized world. They have taken the next step from being dialogue students to dialogue facilitators and the Dialogues Across Differences program is thrilled to have such passionate and dedicated Student Dialogue Coordaintors.

Beginning Fall 2025, we will be introducing the Student Dialogue Associate program! These students will work alongside faculty to incorporate and facilitate dialogues in the classroom setting. With assistance from the Dialogist in Residence, the Dialogue Associates will aid faculty in understanding the importance of dialogue, how incorporating dialogue into the classroom can allow students to gain a greater understanding of the material and will be placing dialogic tools into the hands of the broader Dickinson community.

Hey y'all, my name is Benjamin Lunde and I am a sophomore studying International Business and Management. I am from Rancho Cucamonga, California and I enjoy running, hiking, and traveling… basically anything that allows me to explore the world around me! I am an active member of the Christian community both on and off campus, as well as a member of the Latin American/Caribbean Club, saxophonist for the Dickinson College Jazz Ensemble, and Director of Club Finance for Student Senate. I am excited to be a part of a project that brings people together. I believe that's something our nation needs now more than ever, and I am glad to have the opportunity to do this work serving my Carlisle community!

Hello everyone! I'm Etsub and I’m a Political Science major with an Arabic minor. I'm deeply passionate about amplifying the voices of those who are often overlooked, both in contemporary society and through historical lenses. My academic pursuits focus on understanding and addressing systemic inequalities, with a particular interest in giving a platform to marginalized communities. On campus, I channel this passion through my work as an intern for the House Divided Project, where I explore historical narratives that have been traditionally underrepresented. As the social media outreach coordinator for the Center for Spirituality and Social Justice, I use media to cultivate relationships with students on campus. Additionally, in my role as co-president of the Arabic Club, I work to promote cultural understanding and highlight the rich heritage of Arabic-speaking communities. As a project manager and facilitator for the DxD program, I hope to develop intentional spaces for dialogues both on campus and in the wider Carlisle community.

Hello! I am majoring in International Studies and pursuing a Spanish minor. I am from McLean, Virginia and am a pitcher on the Dickinson Varsity Baseball team. I chose to be invovled in DxD because I feel that it will further my education by exposing me to different cultures and viewpoints. As an International Studies major, I need to be able to view the world through different lenses, and this exposure to different ideas will help me achieve this. Lastly, diversity is one of Dickinson's strengths and I feel that it is important these diverse voices are elevated!

Konoka Uematsu '26 (she/her)

Hello! I'm Konoka Uematsu (she/her) and I am a Biology major with an Ethics minor. I'm from Japan, and I spent about 9 years of my life in Malaysia and Myanmar before returning to Japan for high school. I work on campus at the Multilangual Writing Center as a writing tutor for English and Japanese, and I also work as a TA for the Chemistry department. I am excited to continue my invovlement in teh DxD program as a dialogue facilitator to see what changes we can bring to the campus over the next few years and beyond!

Matthew Scott Craig is a dedicated and hardworking student at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His current goal is to graduate as a member of the class of 2025 with a degree in Political Science and Ethics. He was raised in the seaside historical village of Cape May, New Jersey and graduated with distinction from Lower Cape May Regional High School in 2021. During his undergrad, he would oversee the Dickinson College Republicans as its sitting President and be elected as the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans Chairman. Matthew was awarded membership into the Pi Sigma Alpha honors society as a testament to his academic ability and passion for political scholarship. Now he works as a Student Dialogue Coordinator for Dickinson's Dialogues Across Differences program. His passion for politics has driven him to facilitate dialogues pertaining to electoral behaviors and voting culture in the midst of the November election. Matthew hopes that this important work can create a better and more inclusive culture on campus, allowing for a representative space where people can learn to respect each other's unique political persuasions.
