Dickinson Four: Resources for Advisors

Please keep these intentional ideas and questions in mind to engage students with when you meet with them for advising sessions.

Make Dickinson Yours (belonging, community, campus engagement):
What academic class has influenced your experience at Dickinson the most so far, and how?

Discover What Matters (values, priorities, identity, decision-making):
How have your academic interests changed since you first arrived? What academic interests or experiences have influenced that shift? What classes/coursework have challenged you? What classes have energized and interested you most?

Deepen Your Focus (academic growth and engagement, critical perspectives):
What perspectives or ideas have changed or developed after engaging with course work or a study abroad experience? How does this connect with your major/minor/certificate?

Expand Your Story (reflection, future readiness, self-articulation):
What academic experiences stand out to you as the most meaningful and why?

Reflections/Prompts:
What’s one insight about your academic coursework and/or experiences that you’ve had about yourself this semester? How does this insight help you as think about future courses and/or major/minor/certificate?
