Study Abroad

Hsieh Duandaun Temple

The Department of Classical Studies encourages majors to study abroad as a way of getting direct experience of Greek and Roman lands and antiquities. Many of our students spend a semester or the full junior year abroad at one or more of our partner programs: the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome, College Year in Athens or Advanced Studies in England (based in the Roman town of Bath).

Summer study abroad is also encouraged and supported by a special endowment, the Roberts Fund for Classical Studies. Students travel with Dickinson classics faculty on specially designed summer study tours or attend summer programs at the American Academy in Rome, the American School for Classical Studies at Athens, or others.
