Enterprise Risk Management coordinates insurance coverage for the college, provides risk mitigation and reduction strategies, and seeks to make the campus environment safer for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
International Travel
Dickinson College supports and encourages travel by students, faculty, and staff. The resources listed below are provided for your convenience and also to promote enhanced awareness for the College of those traveling internationally outside of an intstitutional study abroad program.
International Travel Registry
All international travel should be as soon as possible, but no later than 30 days prior to any scheduled travel. This registry can be used by any Dickinson student, faculty, or staff member. In addition, all travel must also adhere to the International Travel Warning Policy, and all other institutional policies and procedures. If anticipating traveling to a US State Department Level 3 or higher-rated country, further review and approval of your travel will be required by the internal International Travel Risk Assessment Committee (ITRAC).
Risk Management While Abroad
Dickinson-related and sponsored international travel
All faculty, staff, and student groups traveling internationally in Dickinson-related and sponsored non-credit bearing programs that are not sponsored by the Center for Global Study and Engagement should request international travel insurance with global medical policy by submitting this form to the Department of Compliance and Risk Management. Please submit your request at least three weeks in advance of your scheduled travel. All international travel requests to a location with an active Department of State Travel Warning must be reviewed by the International Travel and Risk Assessment Committee before submitting this form. Access the form here.
Dickinson has partnered with International SOS to aid those traveling on behalf of the college. The International SOS Assistance App is a critical tool in your safety toolkit, no matter where you are. A 24-hour companion for local missions or travel, the App provides access to vital information on your current location or travel destination, including country guides and information about ongoing and developing medical and security situations.
Available from the Apple or Google Play stores now.
Travel of an entirely personal nature, such as vacation
You are, of course, under no obligation to purchase global medical insurance if you are conducting personal travel. However, from time to time, members of the community look for recommendations on global medical insurance coverage. If you are interested in obtaining global medical insurance coverage, the college’s insurance broker has provided us with the following option through a company called InsureMyTrip. Visit the InsureMyTrip website to obtain a quote.
The college has also partnered with International SOS (ISOS) to provide free travel benefits to Dickinson students, faculty, and staff travelling abroad. All individuals travelling abroad are encouraged to learn more about these benefits here and download the ISOS app for things like:
- Pretravel Information
- Health and safety alert emails
- Free and unlimited health, safety, and security advice
- Emergency services
- and more...
Certificate of Insurance
A certificate of insurance demonstrates evidence of an insurance policy. This document provides no coverage to the certificate holder and rarely guarantees that the certificate holder will be notified if there is a policy cancellation. Dickinson College's insurance broker will issue a certificate of insurance upon the request to the Office of Compliance & Enterprise Risk Management. Please be sure to upload a copy of the contract requirements or original request from the requesting party when you submit the Certificate of Insurance Request Form.
Please allow 1-2 weeks for your request to be processed and the COI to be procured.
