The Revolutionary Challenge proposal process involves two steps. First, submit your name, contact information, Dickinson affiliation and a brief description of your idea through the online submission form. After submitting the form, you will receive a full proposal submission template that you will need to fill out and email to revolutionary@dickinson.edu. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 4, 2019.
How does the Revolutionary Challenge relate to the Strategic Framework?
This is an extension of Dickinson’s strategic planning effort. The Strategic Framework was intended to guide us for the next three years. We are now looking to go beyond that timeframe and identify the next 15- to 20-year strategic drivers for the college. Dickinson was a pioneer in global education, sustainability and civic engagement. These pillars remain strong, and we need to identify what is next for Dickinson and what is needed for the future.
Who will evaluate and approve the proposals?
All members of the wider Dickinson community were invited to rate and provide comments on Revolutionary Challenges proposals in October 2019. Based on those ratings and comments and the selection criteria, the President’s Panel on Innovation—which will be made up of alumni, parents, faculty and students—will select finalists who will then formally present their plans to the panel and Board of Trustees for approval.
How long will this process take?
The finalists will be selected in November 2019. In fall 2020, after those finalists make their full presentations, the Board of Trustees and the President’s Panel on Innovation will choose the winning proposal or proposals. For more details, see the complete Revolutionary Challenge timeline.
How can I get involved?
All members of the Dickinson community—alumni, parents, faculty, students and staff—are invited to submit a proposal by Oct. 4, 2019, and provide ratings and comments on those proposals once they are posted. The open comment period for the proposals has closed.
