Purpose of Award

English teaching assistant in Amman, Jordan

How has Dickinson prepared you for your future?

I was able to study abroad in India, take Arabic courses to continue developing my Arabic, and coordinate an after school program for international middle school students. All of these experiences served as the foundation for my Fulbright application, providing me with a wide range of cross-cultural experiences. In addition, being at a small liberal-arts college has allowed me to develop close relationships with my professors who mentored me throughout the process and supported me along the way. I am extremely grateful to them for taking the time to continuously edit and provide feedback on my applications.

Internship Experience

Over the summer, I interned at an NGO in India, CRHP. During this internship, I was able to gain many valuable skills including but not limited to intercultural communication skills, curriculum development and grant writing. This was a wonderful experience during which I was able to understand how NGOs and communities can team together to sustain change.

What are you most anticipating about your future?

I am most excited about the new relationships and experiences that I will gain going to Jordan. There are many places that I wish to travel to, such as the Dead Sea and Petra. Being able to learn from the students I will be teaching is something that I also am looking forward to.

What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

I am currently conducting an independent research study. This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that I have had at Dickinson. Conducting an independent study requires much attention to detail and accountability. In addition, my work with Dream Catchers is one of my defining moments. I appreciate the opportunity I've had to develop a relationship with the students who I mentored and feel part of the larger Carlisle community.
