Majored in history with minors in French and poilitical science and was on his way to study history at Harvard Graduate School on a teaching assistantship in 1969 but was sent to Paris Island instead. Served as a Marine for a year in active duty, five in reserves. After Villanova Law School, was a managing partner at a mid-sized law firm before becoming general counsel at an international firm. Recognized as a leading U.S. attorney (Chambers USA), received Fidelity Award (Philadelphia Bar Association and Fidelity Bank). Helped draft the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct; has served 12 years on Dickinson's Board of Trustees. Also on boards for Homeless Advocacy Project, Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project, William Penn Charter School, Pennsylvania Ballet. Funds a scholarship for urban youth.
