My name is Emily Barbasch and I am a Sophomore. I've been spinning for 5 years and I instantly fell in love with it! I'm hoping to bring that same energy that I love from my classes at home to Dickinson. I got certified to teach spin classes in January 2015.
I am a junior Biology Major, Spanish Minor, and I am in the Health Studies Certificate program. I am a member of Pi Beta Phi, and I am involved in many community service clubs (commserve, Dickinson friends, phoenix, circle k, etc.). I am also on class office and on the board of the pre-health society. I like to take all of the different group fitness classes, it's always more fun to workout with your friends! I have been dancing since the age of 2 which led to my love of zumba, but believe me, you do not need to be a professional dancer to have a blast in a zumba class! Zumba is for everyone! So ditch the workout, and join the party! Hope to see you there.
I have been a group fitness instructor for more than a decade, teaching body blast, yoga, aerobics, and spinning classes in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and now in Central Pennsylvania. As a lifelong athlete and trained massage therapist, I believe in fitness as an integral component of a balanced life. I am committed to helping students find that balance by helping them reach their fitness goals through encouragement and positive reinforcement.
I'm Jenni Moore, and I've been teaching Pilates here at Dickinson for the last 8 years. I started practicing Pilates in the mid-90s, but it wasn't until I was in a car accident in 2000 that I really saw the transformative effect Pilates can have. After becoming certified a decade ago, I am still just as excited about getting down on my mat and doing a practice as when I first started. I've seen some of the most amazing changes happen to people when they stick with it, gaining strength from the inside out. Pilates is for everyone, and I'm excited to be part of the group fitness classes here at Dickinson.
I am a member of the Class of 2016 and an Economics and IB&M double major. Having danced all my life, I fell in love with Zumba at Dickinson and during a summer at Cornell University because it gets people of all ages, body types and fitness levels to move!!! I absolutely enjoy the atmosphere Zumba creates in a dance studio where people work out and feel like they party together at the same time. It is a great way to stay in shape, and sharing these super fun choreographies with other students makes the position of the Zumba instructor the best job in the world.
I am a member of the Class of 2019. I have been doing yoga for many years now, and I received my yoga teacher certification in August 2015. I am excited to teach here at Dickinson and hope to share my love of yoga with Dickinson students, faculty, and staff!
My name is Sam Richards! I am an Art History and French double major. Aside from teaching Zumba, I am the Social Chair of my fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, I am the Rush Chairman of Dickinson’s Interfraternity Council, I am on the Equestrian team, and I am in the Crescendevils Acapella group. I have always had a keen interest in dance, movement, music and fitness, so it was no surprise that I fell in love with Zumba after taking my first class. To me the best thing about Zumba is that it is so much fun, you do not even realize how intense the workout is! If you have never taken a class I encourage you to try one!
