Trans Advocacy Committee

The Trans Advocacy Committee was formally established in Fall 2015 in response to a campus-wide conversation regarding gender inclusive bathrooms that began in Spring 2015. The committee was established with the goals of creating equity, access, and an inclusive environment for people of all genders through education, advocacy, and institutional change. 

As of Spring 2017, TAC has operated using a model of subcommittees focused on the following goals:

  • Development of a proposal for policies and procedures for an individual to change their name on internal campus records and systems
  • Examining of gender inclusive restrooms/bathrooms and gender inclusive housing on campus
  • Surveying use of gendered language in campus documents, organizations, awards, marketing materials, etc. 
  • Strategize ways to educate and outreach to the Dickinson community on topics relevant to trans and non-binary visibility
