Come learn how seniors in Carlisle perceive their health-related quality of life, and how the aging experience can be improved.

The students in Professor Dave Sarcone's senior seminar will describe the work they did this semester, which involved assessing the way older adults living in senior housing in Cumberland County, Pa., perceive their health-related quality of life. This research attempts to analyze the quality of life of individuals based on measures of physical, mental and social well-being by employing a mixed method research design. Collecting and analyzing information on perceived quality of life, they assisted policy makers and care providers in designing and implementing programs which improve the aging experience. More specifically, it is our hope this information can be used to create new opportunities for better health related care for the elderly beyond simply the treatment of illness or disease.
