For a few years, many of us have been experimenting with ungrading, contract (labor-based) grading, and/or specifications grading. In this discussion facilitated by Noreen Lape, we will draw on the collective hivemind to identify aspects of alternative grading that we are wrestling with and seek solutions from each other. This event would be of interest both to beginners who want to learn more about alternative grading and how other faculty implement it, and to faculty who are hopeful about alternative grading and still working out the kinks.
