On Wednesday, January 27, the Popel Shaw Center for Race & Ethnicity welcomes filmmaker Iris Morales, former Black Panther and Young Lord Denise Oliver-Velez, and scholar Darrel Wanzer Serrano to discuss the legacy of the '70s activist organization the Young Lords in a conversation moderated by Professor Jerry Philogene, chair, department of American studies. This lively conversation is the centerpiece of the 2016 MLK Jr. and Black History Month theme "Radical Youth: Organizing for Rights and Revolution." Co-sponsored by Africana studies, American studies, Center for Service, Spirituality and Social Justice and the department of history.
