October 3: "LGBTQ+ Literature: Surveying a Booming Market" Webinar
Monday, Oct. 3
Noon – 1 p.m. Eastern
Virtual Webinar via Zoom

As the market for LGBTQ+ themed stories expands at a rapid rate in the United States, so have the offerings from a diverse range of authors. In this webinar, we will explore some of the recent trends in publishing literature about LGBTQ+ lives and experiences, from young adult novels to poetry collections. Learn about how authors have explored the intersections of identity and new genres of literature, and along the way we will highlight recent publications by Dickinson alumni. Our presenter, Todd G. Nordgren, Ph.D. (he/him/his), joined Dickinson College as the director of the Office of LGBTQ Services in July 2020. He is also a contributing faculty member in the Department of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies.

To attend, please register no later than 3 p.m. Eastern Time on September 30. Click here to register!

Alumni Mentorship Program

Our philosophy is that mentoring is needed to help LGBTQ+ students navigate societal and internalized discrimination, bias, and challenges. Mentors can act as role models, guides, and helpers to student mentees as they navigate Dickinson College and plan for their futures after graduation. Alumni offer experience and knowledge different from what is offered by student peers. Working with mentees allows alumni to reconnect with Dickinson College and LGBTQ+ students.

Dickinsons LGBTQ+ Archives

The LGBT Center of Central PA and the Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections have partnered to document the stories and history of LGBT life and activism in the greater Central Pennsylvania region. This site contains oral histories that have been recorded for the LGBT History Project, as well as fully accessible digital versions of documents, images, and artifacts that have been donated to the project.

This is a quickly growing collection, and not all items are available through this website. Please contact Malinda Triller-Doran at archives@dickinson.edu for information about how to access all of the resources of the LGBT History Project, as well as how to donate additional materials.

Generous support to make these unique resources accessible has been provided by the Schlegel Deibler Charitable Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
