Student-Initiated Funding: CCLA Community Fund
The CCLA Community Fund is a resource for motivated student leaders and/or student organizations to utilize in financing ethical community-based initiatives, up to a maximum of $500 each academic year.
In terms of eligibility criteria,
- projects must clearly articulate who from the community benefits from the project. The strongest proposals will have a named community partner (group of residents, nonprofit or grassroots organization, governmental agency, or another organization who prioritizes the common good) who has been consulted with in advance of the project.
- the applicant must be a Dickinson student or student organization with an identified lead who will manage reporting expenses.
- the expense request should state explicitly what the funds will be used for and be based on actual quotes, whenever possible, up to $500 maximum.
Examples of potential fundable projects:
- $150 request submitted by a Bonner Community Engagement Fellow who is taking lead on a wellness project with youth at Carlisle Victory Circle to purchase notebooks, stickers, pens, and snacks to build a journaling practice/workshop.
- $250 request submitted by a student who is taking on a community-engaged research project for their honors thesis, which relies on community residents completing a short survey about their food pantry usage. The request is for 10 $25 Giant gift cards to be distributed as raffle prizes to incentivize participation.
- $400 request submitted by an executive board member of a student club who would like to co-host a documentary screening of Pardon Me with the Reentry Coalition, bringing together Dickinson students and Carlisle residents. The funds are to fund screening rights and food for 20 people to attend the dinner event.
Proposals will be reviewed on the first Friday of every month, with a turnaround time of 2 weeks from review to receive a decision about funding (please plan for this timeline in advance). Successful applicants will need to submit receipts for their successful project and a short paragraph that reports on how the funds were used and the impact of the funding within 2 weeks of the proposed project occurrence.
