Starting on July 30, Dickinson College will begin to transition to a new Gateway portal system. This new system will integrate the portal and college web site. Users will be able to log in to the web site and move seamlessly between public web content and private portal content.
Because the new Gateway will be integrated with the web site, it will share the look and feel of the main web site design. There are a few changes in the location of familiar tools and content. In the existing Gateway, external applications, like email or Banner Self Service, are found in a series of icons at the top of the screen. The new system gives you access to these same systems through a pop-up Application Tool Pad at the bottom of every screen once you log in to the web site. They also are available on the home page of your Gateway. In the existing Gateway, there are tabs to take you to sets of content. The new Gateway replaces the tabs with a menu on the left of the screen. The menu contains familiar content for various constituencies.
On July 30, when you choose to log in to the Gateway from the college web site you will be asked to choose whether to go to the existing Gateway portal or the new Gateway portal. This will give users a chance to explore the new portal and get familiar with it before we fully cut over to the new portal. The traditional portal will remain accessible through the end of September.
