Strategic Planning Monthly Update – March 11, 2016
Since our last update in February, the Strategic Planning Committee has been immersed in analytical and reflective work. The plan is beginning to take shape, although it is still incomplete and only in rough form. We have a working version of the mission statement and have consolidated all of the foundational work the committee members completed on the environmental scan assessment into a synopsis for inclusion in the strategic plan.
The Strategic Planning Committee also has had several in-depth conversations—collectively as the whole committee and in small working groups—on the defining characteristics of the Dickinson experience, and the committee identified three conceptual anchors for the plan—inquiry, inclusion and engagement. These three concepts have long been valued at Dickinson, and we are shaping and connecting them in ways we intend to be distinctive and inspirational for our community. As we further develop these conceptual anchors and turn our attention to goal setting, we will be translating these concepts and our mission statement into goals and objectives. We are mindful of, and excited by, the opportunity we have to continue developing Dickinson towards its potential.
