Food in a time of Crisis

Dickinson will host a virtual discussion with a panel of experts about food, food supply chains and food access during the COVID-19 pandemic. The livestream event, “Food in a Time of Crisis,” will take place Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. The link to view the event will be available on the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues website at 6:50 that evening. Members of the public are invited to watch the discussion and submit questions for panelists in the comments section of the YouTube live stream.

Access to quality food was already an issue for many families in Central Pennsylvania prior to the arrival of the novel coronavirus which causes the COVID-19 illness. The question of access to food is now more urgent for many more people. Supply chains are also threatened, as our efforts to respond to the health crisis create unforeseen challenges.

Panelists include Jenn Halpin, director of the Dickinson College Farm; Andrea Karns, vice president of sales and marketing for Karns Foods; and Robert Weed '80, chief executive officer of Project SHARE, Carlisle’s community food bank.

The event is sponsored by the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues
