Dickinson is once again topping the list of U.S. colleges and universities that contribute the greatest number of graduating seniors to the Teach for America (TFA) corps. TFA recently announced its annual top contributors list, and Dickinson is among 21 institutions in the small-schools category (2,999 or fewer undergraduates) with seven members from the class of 2018 joining the TFA corps.

TFA corps members are top college graduates and professionals who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders in the pursuit of educational opportunity for all students. The organization recruits seniors and graduates from all academic majors and backgrounds who have demonstrated achievement, perseverance and leadership.

TFA’s 2018 corps is among the most diverse in its history, with more than half of incoming members identifying as people of color, 45 percent coming from low-income backgrounds, and one in three are the first in their family to graduate college. Throughout TFA’s 29-year history, 97 Dickinson alumni have taught as corps members.
