Winter Break Career Pathways: Data & Tech 

This three-week, hybrid, noncurricular career-development program offers Dickinson students a chance to engage in career exploration, gain employment skills, conduct corporate simulation projects and travel to NYC to meet with professionals at Google! Once you are accepted to the program, YOU build your pathway through a personalized menu of options. 

*No tutorials, projects or workshops in this program can be used to waive requirements for the academic curriculum or fulfill any experiential requirements for majors at Dickinson.*

Industry Workshops

Building a Career in Data Analytics Workshop
Presented by Kurt Kendall P'25, Chief Analytics Officer at Publishers Clearing House
Explore what the state of play is in the data industry. You’ll find details about working in the data sector, including the types of roles, technologies and skills you’ll need to get started.

Building a Career in Technology Workshop
Presented by Zach Wahl ’98, CEO at Enterprise Knowledge
This session will introduce you to the tech industry and what it’s like to work in the field. Learn about various roles and specialties, and walk away with a greater understanding of the tech landscape! 


Corporate Virtual Work Experiences

Virtual work experience programs utilizing Forage replicate projects at top companies and help students gain the skills to be successful when applying and working there. Students will enroll in programs that with help them explore career options through projects, view video instruction from actual employees and access curated resources to help with the task. Students can then receive feedback from the company by comparing their work to model examples from real employees. 

One-on-One Informational Interviews With a Professional 

Students will meet 1:1 with a Dickinson alum from the field of data or tech. Informational interviews will take place with professionals in the field in the areas of data analytics, web development, software engineering, artificial intelligence and more!

Introductory Skills Tutorials

Students in the Pathways program will be given full access to upskilling tutorials on LinkedIn Learning to explore basic tutorials (3 to 5 hrs. each) on an array of topics. Students will work with a career advisor to select appropriate tutorials based on their career goals.
