Environmental and Energy Study Institute: The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), established in 1984, provides information on climate, environment, and energy issues to federal Congressional offices via hosting Congressional briefings, holding meetings with Congressional offices, and producing fact sheets and articles. EESI is regarded as a trusted source of credible, non-partisan information on energy and environment solutions—both inside and outside DC. During Dickinson students’ visit to EESI, they will have an opportunity to hear from EESI’s Executive Director and the Board Chair on topics including how small non-profit organizations work and how to get your foot in the door in DC and in environmental organizations. Following a conversation with the organization’s leaders, the students will have the opportunity to talk with a policy associate and the office’s operations associate about our current policy work, how we interface with Capitol Hill, and the nuts and bolts of what it is like to work for an environmentally focused organization. Students should prepare questions as we will leave plenty of time for Q&As throughout the session.
