Pennsylvania Values: Dignity for All

April 25, 2019

There will be a laptop available for you to contact your local state legislators and ask them to support LGBTQ civil rights!

Stop by Table 5 in the HUB to talk with student Pride Coordinators from the Office of LGBTQ Services about "Pennsylvania Values."

-- Did you know that LGBTQ+ identified Pennsylvanians can be fired simply because of their sexuality/gender identity? It's no surprise that 11% of LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians are unemployed, compared to 5% of non-LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians.
-- Pennsylvania also lacks explicit housing protections for LGBTQ+ folks. This means LGBTQ+ folks could legally be denied an apartment or be kicked out of a rental property because of their sexuality/gender identity.
-- There are also no protections in place for LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians as they try to navigate basic public accommodations like restaurants, parks, public transportation, restrooms, and wedding venues. This is something many LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians have to navigate with fear and trepidation every single day.

There are more than half a million LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians who each deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in their lives. The Pennsylvania Values campaign brings together Pennsylvanians of diverse backgrounds and political perspectives to advocate for a statewide nondiscrimination law that protects LGBTQ+ identified people.
