Spring 2019 Poitras Gleim Lecture

April 17, 2019

Student Senate is excited to announce this year’s speaker for the Spring 2019 Poitras Gleim Lecture will be Edward Ricourt ‘95!

Ricourt, now a screenwriter, graduated from Dickinson in 1995 with a major in political science “but discovered a passion for writing in fiction and theatre classes” during his senior year. As a student, Ricourt approached Professor of Theatre Todd Wronski, “who helped him design an independent study on screenwriting and write his first script.”

Following his graduation from Dickinson, Ricourt worked as a production assistant in New York City and later as an associate producer for The Ricki Lake Show. Ricourt earned an “MFA in dramatic writing from NYU in 2005” and moved to Hollywood where he worked on numerous projects before collaborating with Boaz Yakin to write the screenplay for the famed film, Now You See Me, starring the likes of Jessie Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, and Michael Caine. Ricourt’s most recent projects include serving as a consulting producer for the series Jessica Jones and as a writer on the show Raising Dion. The lecture will be held April 17, 2019, at 7 p.m. in ATS. As of April 3, 2019, tickets will become available in the next week.

Kay Gleim Poitras ’53 and Edward Poitras endowed the lecture “to challenge the imagination of Dickinson students and faculty in discovering interesting individuals who cross traditional professional and disciplinary boundaries.” The lectureship intends to bring a speaker of national or international renown to address a topic outside of their known area of expertise.

We look forward to welcoming Edward Ricourt back to our campus!
