Journalist, author and music scholar Elaine Hayes discusses the art, life and legacy of vocal jazz legend Sarah Vaughan. She will also sign copies of her acclaimed 2017 book Queen of Bebop; The Musical Lives of Sarah Vaughan. Haye’s’s lecture kicks off the Popel Shaw Center’s yearlong series A Kaleidoscope of Excellence: Celebrating the art, activism, and scholarship of women of color. The PSC is distributing 10 free copies of Queen of Bebop to members of the Dickinson community planning to attend the lecture. Please email if you would like a copy.
