Chicago Field Museum Tour 2018

July 29, 2018

This interactive new exhibition follows Field Museum scientists on the thrilling search for never-before-seen fossils and sheds new light on our planet’s changing climate and geology.

Before we tour this special exhibit, Dickinson professor Marcus Key, the Joseph Priestley Professor of Natural Philosophy, will talk to us about the role of natural history museums in preserving biodiversity, the role of climate change in evolution, and how dinosaurs adapted to living in such a high latitude climate. We’ll also hear from Lisa Geiger ’08, Exhibitions Registration Assistant at the museum, who will tell us about her experience being part of the team to help SUE settle in to their new home at the museum. After our tour of Antarctic Dinosaurs exhibit, Dr. Scott Lidgard, Head of Earth Sciences at the museum and a paleontologist, will give us a private, behind-the-scenes collections tour showcasing some remarkable fossil invertebrate animals as we walk through 340 million years of Earth's history—we’ll also visit a working laboratory where fossil vertebrates are prepared for study and display. Please register by Monday, July 16.
