Join the College Farm and explore professional opportunities in food and farming in our nation's capital!
The Dickinson College Farm continues its annual tradition of a food and farm-focused networking trip this spring with an excursion to the nation’s capital. In conjunction with the Career Center, the Farm will provide transportation and programming for students to visit, interact with, and learn from professionals in a variety of food-related fields. The itinerary includes joining members of the National Farmers Market Coalition for a tour of Freshfarm Market’s H Street Market with a Freshfarm employee. Students will also be treated to a tour of Union Market DC, a prepared food hall and retail space that serves to incubate small culinary businesses as well as build community in Northeast D.C. Attendees will enjoy lunch from one of the many vendors at Union Market before heading to Dupont to meet growers from Love & Carrots, a landscaping business that specializes in urban gardens and farms for businesses and private residences. The day will end with a visit to Glen’s Garden Market, a small scale local grocery striving to make incremental climate change action under the ownership and operation of Danielle Vogel—speaker at the 15th Annual Local Food Dinner. Vans will depart from the DPS parking lot promptly at 7 a.m. and are expected to return by 7 p.m. Pre-registration is required for this event through Handshake. Space is limited. If there are any questions regarding the program or program details, please contact the College Farm Education and Outreach Coordinator.
