Info Session: Arava Institute for Environmental Studies

April 9, 2021

Topics covered include desert ecology, sustainable agriculture and development, alternative energy, and water resource management.

At the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, students from Israel, Palestine, Jordan, the United States, and around the world aspire to become the next generation of regional and environmental leaders. All students live on a desert Kibbutz in southern Israel and are eligible for course credit through Ben Gurion University of the Negev.

Students are invited to study at the Arava Institute for one semester or a full year and will study in an extremely cross-cultural community. Over the past year, students from five out of the seven continents have studied at the Arava Institute. This experience allows students to gain first-hand experience thinking and working in a transboundary environment, while developing communication and leadership skills needed for cross-cultural cooperation.

The Arava Institute offers a broad range of courses on environmental studies and environmental policy. Topics covered include desert ecology, sustainable agriculture and development, alternative energy, and water resource management.
